Kadosh

Exodus 15:11

THE GOD WE NEED

Day 10: Qadosh

The Gardener

"Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?" (Exodus 15:11, NIV)

🌾

There is a need that surfaces after failure. The mistake you cannot undo. The shame that clings long after the moment has passed. And quietly, a question rises. Is there anything, anyone, untouched by the mess I keep making?

🌱

Scripture answers with a name unlike any other, one used to describe God more than almost any other attribute. Qadosh, Holy. Set apart. Utterly other.

Qadosh does not simply mean morally good, though it includes that. It means separate, distinct from everything common, untouched by the corruption that stains the rest of creation. When Isaiah saw the Lord, the seraphim did not cry out that He was loving or powerful first. They cried, holy, holy, holy, as though no other word could be said even twice before it needed saying a third time.

🌻

This is how He meets the need for something uncontaminated in a world, and a life, so often stained. He is not holy despite being near you. His holiness is exactly what makes Him safe to run to, because nothing about Him will ever fail, compromise, or disappoint the way you fear you have.

Your failure does not reach Him. But His holiness reaches you, and does not stay distant. It comes close enough to cleanse.

He is not far because He is holy. He is holy, and still He comes close.

🌿

Prayer

Qadosh, Holy One, in a world stained by failure, thank You that You remain untouched by it, and still draw near to me. Make me clean in Your presence. Amen.
